GENERAL CARL E. MUNDY, USMC (RET)****

Former Commandant of the United States Marine Corps 1991 - 1995:  General Mundy was one of the Marine Corp's most  respected Commandants.  The General is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, whose Marine Corps career spanned more than 37 years, in which he rose from rifle platoon to leader to the  command of the entire Marine Corps.   As Commandant, he saw to it that Marine Corps' Fleet Marine Forces, which had been subordinate to the Navy's Operating Forces, was elevated to "component" status and full partnership under the unified commanders of the Joint-Chiefs-of-Staff.
