GENERAL JOSEPH P. HOAR, USMC (RET))****

The General is a former Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Central Command:  General Hoar succeeded Army General H. Norman Schwarzkopf as commander of this important American military command at the conclusion of the Persian Gulf War.   As a Marine Corps officer, General Hoar has served at every command level from rifle platoon leader to commander of a Marine infantry regiment, and has also commanded three Marine Corps Air Ground Task Forces.  During the Persian Gulf War, the General served as the Deputy for Operations for the Marine Corps.  As the Commander-in-Chief of Central Command, the General oversaw the enforcement of the U.S. led naval embargo against Iraq in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, the enforcement of the U.S./U.N. "No-Fly Zone" in southern Iraq, humanitarian and peacekeeping operations in Kenya and Somalia, support of relief operations in Rwanda and the evacuation of U.S. civilians from Yemen during 1994 civil war.  Since retiring from the Marine Corps, the General has formed a consulting company that is engaged in business development in the Middle East and Africa.
