VICE ADMIRAL GERALD E. MILLER,USN (RET))***        

Admiral Miller has been a major force in the develop and application of American naval air power since the Second World War.  After serving two years as an enlisted "battleship sailor" the Admiral attended the U.S. Naval Academy from which he graduated in 1941.  During the Second World War, The Admiral served aboard cruisers and saw extensive surface combat, first in the South Pacific and then in the Aleutian Islands.  The Admiral then attended naval flight school and was designated as a naval aviator.   During the Korean War, the Admiral commanded a jet fighter squadron, flying the Grumman F9F Panther.  During the Vietnam War, Admiral Miller commanded an aircraft carrier division with the U.S. Seventh Fleet.  After a number of important staff naval & headquarters positions the Admiral took command the U.S. Second Fleet and NATO Striking Forces Atlantic and then the U.S. Sixth Fleet and NATO Striking Force Mediterranean.   Following naval service, Admiral Miller has active in private industry and in the preservation of America's naval aviation heritage.  He was the founder and senior V. P. of the Association of Naval Aviation and the founder and member of the Board of Trustees of the Naval Aviation Foundation, a member of the Secretary of the Navy's History Advisory Board.  From 1996-1997, the Admiral assumed the position of Ramsey Fellow at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
