MAJOR GENERAL JOHN R.ALISON, USAF (RET)**

The General was one of the first USAAF pilots to reach China following the establishment of the AVG.  With the establishment of the China Air Task Force in July of 1942 ,  General Alison became a founding member of the famed 23rd Fighter Group where he gained ace status and commanded the 75th Fighter Squadron.  Following service in China, the General was the co-founder and co-commander of the Army Air Force's famed 1st Air Commando Group, which operated in support of Allied operations behind Japanese lines in Burma.  Since retiring from Air Force service, the General has enjoyed a distinguished career in the

American aerospace industry.  It was General Alison, who as a young Army test pilot, first demonstrated the Curtiss P-40 to General Chennault, when Chennault was selecting an aircraft for AVG service.
