MAJOR GENERAL JAMES E. McINERNEY, USAF (RET)** Former
Commandant of the Industrial College of the US Armed Forces.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point,
the General is a highly decorated and experienced fighter pilot who saw
extensive air combat in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
During the Korean War, the General flew the F-86F Sabre Jet and
was officially credited with the destruction of one Soviet-built MiG-15
jet fighter in air-to-air combat. During
the Vietnam War, flying the F-105D/F Thunderchief, the General earned a
much respected reputation for courage and determination in the face of
the enemy while commanding the Air Force's first "Wild Weasel"
anti-radiation (anti-ground-to-air missile) squadron.
For is service in Southeast Asia, the General was awarded the Air
Force Cross and received the Air Force Association's Citation of Honor.
Currently, the General is an executive of the National Defense
Industrial Association. |
