·        In November 2003, the SAAHF initiated a dialogue between the Hunan Province Government Information Office, and the American Embassy in Beijing that will lead to the recovery of what is believed to be the body of an US Army Air Force pilot who was killed when his fighter aircraft crashed on the side of mountain ridge in Hunan Province’s Luoxian mountain range in late 1944.

 ·        On November 13 – 21,  2003 a delegation of the SAAHF’s Founding Board Members, that included AVG fighter ace and Flying Tigers Association President John “Dick” Rossi, AVG veteran Robert Layher, AVG veteran Peter Wright and their wives, Lydia Rossi, Mariam Layher and Sinione Wright and SAAHF Ex. Director Jeff Greene and his fiancé Donna Ostroff, were invited first to Kunming, China where they were the guest of the Information Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province and the China Association For Expedition for a briefing on the efforts to recover the lost P-40 aircraft of AVG pilot John Blackburn from Lake Dianchi.  Following the briefing at Kunming, the delegation then traveled as the guest of the Zjijiang Foreign Cultural Exchange Association and the Hunan Province Government Information office,  to the town of Zhijiang  in Hunan Province to participate in the China Zhijiang International Peace and Cultural Festival. During the Festival’s activities, the members of the delegation participated in the official opening of The Flying Tiger Museum at Zhijinag’s historic Second World War airfield.

 ·        Throughout 2004, the SAAHF will support the efforts of several Chinese cities and organization to either maintain or establish new museums that will commemorate U.S. and Chinese Second World War cooperation.

 ·        In 2004, the SAAHF will establish the Young Tigers Aerospace Education Program, that will initially connect elementary and secondary school students who participate in an ongoing summer aerospace education program at the China Aviation Museum in Beijing, with an ongoing aerospace education program at a similar institution in the United States.
