The CNAC C-46 Commando transport flown by former Chinese Air Force fighter ace,  turned CNAC “Hump” pilot,  Major Arthur Chin.  An American citizen, Major Chin was among a small group of Chinese Americans who in the early 1930’s volunteered to fight as members of the Chinese Air Force against the invading Japanese Army.  In combat with the Japanese Army and Navy Air Forces, between August  1937 and December 1939, Major Chin and two other of these Chinese American “volunteer” fighter pilots, became the first American fighter aces of the Second World War.
